Oita Marine Palace Aquarium Umitamago
大分市, 大分県
Address: 3078-22 Uto, Oaza Kanzaki, Oita, Oita, Japan
Umitamago stands on the Beppu Bay shoreline in Oita and is often paired with the neighboring Takasakiyama Natural Zoological Garden. Built around the idea of becoming 'friends with animals,' it emphasizes close encounters and live programs rather than passive viewing alone. Its signature draw is the walrus performance, still one of the rarest major marine-animal programs in Japan, supported by the dolphin performance and the Asobeach Friends Live in the outdoor area. With the soft bay scenery around it, Umitamago works well for both families and slower-paced sightseeing days.
