Aquatotto Gifu is one of the world's largest freshwater aquariums, built around the theme of the Kiso Three Rivers, the Nagara River from source to estuary, and freshwater life from around the world. The aquarium displays about 220 species and 20,000 specimens of fish, amphibians, and related life, and visitors move through recreated environments inspired by rivers such as the Amazon, Congo, and Mekong. Signature animals include pirarucu, turtles, frogs, and even capybaras, giving the aquarium a wider freshwater identity than fish alone.
