Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

Motobu, Okinawa

Address: 424 Ishikawa, Motobu-cho, Kunigami-gun, Okinawa, Japan

The centrepiece of Ocean Expo Park in Motobu Town, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is one of Japan's largest and most famous aquariums. Its signature Kuroshio Sea tank measures 35 m across, 10 m deep, and 7,500 m3 in volume, creating a dramatic setting for whale sharks and manta rays. Beyond the main building, the free Okichan Theater, Dolphin Lagoon, Sea Turtle Pool, and Manatee Pool make the overall visit feel much larger than a single aquarium stop. Indoor zones such as the Ino shallows display and the Coral Sea also give the visit a distinctly Okinawan marine identity.
