Echizen Matsushima Aquarium is a popular hands-on aquarium on the coast of Fukui, facing the Sea of Japan inside a scenic national-park setting. Its appeal comes not only from the sunfish display and dolphin show but also from highly interactive areas such as the penguin walk, the seafood touch corner, and the shallow seawater play pool. The combination of scenery, touch experiences, and family-friendly programs gives it a very different character from a conventional indoor aquarium.

- About 30 minutes by Keifuku Bus bound for Tojinbo from Awaraonsen Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, then get off right at Echizen Matsushima Aquarium-mae.
