Oga Aquarium GAO

Oga, Akita

Address: Toga Shiohama, Oga, Akita, Japan

Oga Aquarium GAO stands on the Japan Sea coast of the Oga Peninsula in Akita and is defined as much by location as by its animals. The facility presents around 400 species and 10,000 animals, with regional highlights such as the large Oga Sea tank and the Hatahata Museum dedicated to Akita's prefectural fish. Its polar bear remains the best-known crowd-puller, while seals, penguins, and strong Japan Sea exhibits make the visit feel firmly rooted in place rather than generic.
