Located in Kushimoto at the southern tip of Honshu in Wakayama, Kushimoto Marine Park lets you experience the local sea exactly as it is. It is one of the few places in Japan with an offshore underwater observatory tower, where you look directly into the natural sea rather than a tank, surrounded by what are considered Japan's northernmost table-coral colonies. The aquarium adds loggerhead sea turtles, sharks and bluefin tuna, making it a worthwhile stop on a South Wakayama (Nanki) trip.
