Ashizuri Aquarium SATOUMI in Tosashimizu, Kochi, presents itself as a marine adventure museum rooted in the waters and landscapes of the Tatsukushi area. Its exhibits focus on the Kuroshio, Tatsukushi Bay, coral environments, and Kochi's river and coastal habitats, with around 350 species and 15,000 animals on display. The Tatsukushi Bay main tank and the exhibits explaining the gifts of the Kuroshio current give the aquarium a strong local identity, while the surrounding coastal scenery deepens the sense of place. Rather than relying on flashy shows, it excels as a destination where visitors feel connected to the actual sea outside.
