Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium

Sendai, Miyagi

Address: 4-6 Nakano, Miyagino-ku, Sendai, Miyagi, Japan

Opened in 2015, Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium is one of Sendai's signature aquarium destinations, built around a large Sanriku-themed tank and a broad mix of Japanese and international marine life. Its best-known highlight is the premium show 'Sparkling of Life,' where around 25,000 Japanese sardines become the stars of the main 'Sparkling Sea of Life' tank. The Umino-Mori Stadium also hosts one of the largest animal performances in Tohoku, featuring dolphins, sea lions, and birds. With the Penguin Life beach area and exhibits themed around the seas of Tohoku, it works well for both family trips and broader sightseeing.
