Address: 1-6 Takeshimacho, Gamagori, Aichi, Japan
Takeshima Aquarium, on the waterfront in Gamagori, is a compact but character-rich aquarium known for its deep-sea focus. The official site promotes its deep-sea collection as the largest of its kind in Japan and says around 190 deep-sea species are currently on display. A major recent highlight is the 'Deep-Sea Great Tank,' a roughly 120-ton display centered on Japanese spider crabs and a deep-sea fault-inspired layout. Together with the famous handwritten exhibit signs, it gives the aquarium a very distinctive personality.
